Outcomes Lab is Convergent's dedicated department focused on moving the nonprofit community forward in delivering outcomes, demonstrating value, and achieving financial sustainability. Outcomes Lab provides value in a variety of ways:
- Discovering new ways to effectively demonstrate your outcomes
- Discussing best practices on demonstrating results
- Furthering accountability and transparency of nonprofits
Our work is based on the Outcome-Driven Model developed by Capital Strategists Group in the early 1990’s. Its basic premise states that both nonprofits and for-profits share the same mandate:
Deliver outcomes that investors value.
This simple but revolutionary statement is not a theory, but a proven process that has been used for years by all of the companies that merged to form Convergent. In fact, it was the uniting factor that made all of these companies so successful, and this now gives Convergent clients the edge in their funding efforts.
Credibility Matters
Outcomes Lab draws on the best in nonprofit thinking, from Peter Drucker to Michael Porter to Jim Collins, and makes it work for your organization. Our work is based on investment-grade methodologies designed by a Chartered Financial Analyst, who must operate under a specific set of professional standards of practice that prohibit presenting information without an extremely high level of objectivity and due diligence. No one else in the nonprofit funding arena has the professional experience, credentials, and record of accomplishment that Convergent offers.
Outcomes Matter
Demonstrating and communicating your organization’s outcomes has never been more important. Emphasizing these outcomes leads to more successful campaigns in the form of more money raised, larger investments, and shorter decision times.
Focusing on outcomes is not just for capital campaigns, though. It also leads to more successful grants, more engaged investors, and better communications. Outcomes Lab can provide those values in language that grantors, investors, and stakeholders understand and appreciate, from an objective point of view. Typical additions to grant requests include the following:
- Present value of future benefits
- Social costs avoided
- Community impact
- Bottom line impacts on both the public and private sectors
