“The Council for Resource Development is the member association for community college fundraising and grant development professionals.  With a fifty-year history that mirrors the growth of the community college movement, CRD has met member needs with programs carefully designed to advance both private and public support for public two-year colleges.”

We were excited to see the theme for this year’s Summer Institute, “The Philanthropic Imperative: A 21st Century Challenge for Community Colleges.” Per CRDs website, “…delivering on these demands comes at a time when states are reducing their support for higher education and dramatically impacting the community college funding model.  Rising to this challenge requires an increased commitment from community colleges to fundraising and alternative resource development strategies.”

Convergent Partner Lee Mikell is looking forward to attending this conference and learning more about current community college fundraising trends. He is already very familiar with the unique needs and challenges of this sector, having acted as lead fundraising counsel for Troy University’s $200 million capital campaign, as well as helping to design and guide the implementation of The University System of Georgia Foundation’s “Leadership Mentoring and Professional Development Program” for 2014 and 2015.

If you’d like to learn more about Convergent and how our services can help your college meet its current funding needs, please contact Lee directly to set up a personal meeting in Charleston.
