“Washington County took the first step toward creating a regionalized economic development board Thursday.

The Washington County Economic Development Council voted to execute a contract with Convergent Nonprofit Solutions to form a regional plan during the council’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Bergethon told the council a five-year $5.5 million budget could be raised locally to form a regionalized economic board. The recommendation followed a report gauging the interest of business owners and government leaders in Carter and Unicoi counties.”
