Hospice of South Texas

Hospice of South Texas began its journey in mid-1984, inspired by the dedicated staff of DeTar Hospital. who recognized the need for a community-wide, not-for-profit hospice. Officially incorporated in 1985 as Hospice of Victoria, our organization quickly grew to serve a broader region, supported by a grant from the Meadows Foundation in 1989. In 1991, we rebranded as Hospice of South Texas to better reflect our expanded reach across twelve counties. In 2017, the opening of the Dornburg Center of Compassion marked a significant milestone, offering state-of-the-art inpatient care. Our growth and success have been fueled by the unwavering support of our community, ensuring that we provide the highest level of care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
